Elina Luukanen


Born in 1941 in Helsinki. Lives and works in Helsinki.
Studies at the Department of Architecture in Helsinki University of Technology 1961–1964 , Helsingin yliopiston piirustuslaitos (Art school in the University of Helsinki) 1965–1968, studied printmaking under the guidance of Lea Ignatius and Pentti Kaskipuro 1970–1974.
Works exhibited first in Helsinki in1971, first solo exhibition at the Association of Finnish Printmakers in 1973.
Awarded in the first Graphica Creativa in Jyväskylä in 1975 as the best Finnish artist. Received the Pro Finlandia Medal in 1988. State Arts Grant 1994–2004. State artist’s pension 2004–.
Participated in numerous international art graphic exhibitions. Works in the collections of renowned museums in Finland and abroad.

Born in Kälviä in 1947. Lives and works in Kälviä.
Studies at the Vocational School of Arts and Crafts in Helsinki 1967–1970, evening class of Pentti Kaskipuro at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s.
First solo exhibition in Pori in 1972. Participant in numerous collective exhibitions in Finland, Nordic Countries, Baltic Countries and in Germany.
Works in collections of prominent Finnish museums and foundations.
Finnish Cultural Foundation, Ostrobothnia regional grant in 1998, Pro Finlandia Medal in 2000.

Jean Josquin "Kenne" Grégoire (Teteringen, 13 december 1951)

Gregoire has studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam from 1967-1973. In 1973 he won the Silver Prix de Rome. At the invitation of the Italian Ministry of Culture in 1976 he made a study trip to Italy. Kenne is nominated for the project Beacons on the water of the center Visual Arts Ontario i.s.m. HSRO. Amongst the work of Kenne Grégoire we may find still lifes, but also buildings, landscapes and theatre scenes from the Commedia dell'Arte. There is beauty, but also sadness, decay and deterioration.

"Although born at Le Havre in France, Ethel Gabain was educated in England and studied art at the Slade and the Central School of Art & Design in London. She returned to work in Paris before permanently settling in England, setting up her own studio at Brook Green, London. Gabain produced approximately 320 lithographs and her work is represented in several important public collections.

Early in her career Gabain decided to concentrate largely upon lithography, her subjects often lone girls or women in domestic interiors, usually working in black and white and occasionally employing colour to highlight details. Lenz studied with Gustav Klimt at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna and in 1897 was a co-founder of the Vienna Secession. In 1903 he accompanied Klimt on a visit to Ravenna, where both artists were deeply impressed by the hieratic style and decorative use of gold in the Byzantine mosaics. This allegorical figure of Spring accompanied by a peacock dates from around 1904. At the left a couple in contemporary dress watch four dancing nymphs.
